- Director Wuershan's first movie to hit the theater, The Butcher, the Chef, and the Swordsman, winning the Best New Director of the 48th Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards. In 2012, the second movie he directed was Painted Skin: The Resurrection, which started the New Oriental Fantasy trend in Chinese film industry and broke 12 box office sales records in China. And in 2015, his third movie, Mojin-The Lost Legend, which won the Best Director of the Hundred Flowers Award, is the highest grossing film that was directed by someone from mainland China.
- During pre-productions, Director Wuershan went to America and New Zealand to visit top-level special effects companies and post-production companies, including ILM, Weta Digital, Weta Workshop and Park Road Post Production. He also consulted creative experiences with Peter Jackson, the producer of The Lord of The Rings Trilogy-Barrie M. Osborne, and one of the producers of The Matrix franchise-Grant Hill, and finally formed an international production team.
- The project first started in June, 2014, pre-production began in September, 2016, and worldwide auditions for both male and female leads began in February, 2017. The production is set to start shooting from 2018 to 2019. According to current planning, the three films are scheduled to be released worldwide in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
