James Bond has left active service. His peace is short-lived when Felix Leiter, an old friend from the CIA, turns up asking for help, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

- 凯瑞·福永 replaced 丹尼·博伊尔 as the film's director about three months before the start of principal photography. On Thursday 20th September 2018 it was announced that 凯瑞·福永 will direct the 25th Bond film. Boyle, the previous director signed to the project, had left one month earlier on 21st August of that year. Many directors were considered for replacement, with the short-list rumored to include Jean-Marc Vallée, 大卫·马肯兹, 丹尼斯·维伦纽瓦, 扬·德芒热, 爱德华·贝尔格, and 埃德加·赖特. Fukunaga is known for his directorial work on the first season of True Detective (2014), Beasts of No Nation (2015), and Netflix limited series Maniac (2018), which premiered the day after his announcement.
- This will be the first James Bond movie to be shot with an IMAX Camera. Previous Bond films exhibited in IMAX theaters were converted by up-scaling to the IMAX format i.e. they were optimized for IMAX theaters. This movie was also filmed with 65mm Panavision cameras.
- 丹尼尔·克雷格 has said that he would retire from the role of James Bond if he felt he was too old to play the character. Craig has also said that it has become harder to be fit enough for the role and that there has been more use of doubles for action sequences.
