玛格特·罗比 revealed at San Diego Comic-Con International 2016 that although the cast members of the squad had extensive rehearsals together, she and 杰瑞德·莱托 did not rehearse prior to filming their scenes. She and director 大卫·阿耶 felt it added to the unpredictability and madness of Harley Quinn and The Joker.
To prepare for his role as Deadshot, 威尔·史密斯 shaved his head, and spent time training with Navy S.E.A.L.s and Army Rangers, practicing firing a Glock 9mm handgun and an AR-15 rifle. Smith turned out to be a quick learner, particularly with long distance shots using the AR-15.
汤姆·哈迪 was originally cast as Rick Flag, but dropped out to do 荒野猎人 (2015). Hardy had previously played Bane in 蝙蝠侠：黑暗骑士崛起 (2012), who was a former member of the Suicide Squad in the comic books. Hardy later expressed his regret at leaving the role, given that he did not want to lose the work.
杰瑞德·莱托 got so immersed in playing The Joker that he wouldn't break out of character on set even when he wasn't filming. He even sent his fellow cast members "Joker-like" presents: a live rat to 玛格特·罗比, and bullets to 威尔·史密斯, a soiled Playboy magazine to 阿德沃尔·阿吉纽依, and a dead hog, anal beads, and used condoms for the whole crew. 斯科特·伊斯特伍德 commented that Leto frightened him at times with his behavior, and Smith mentioned that he actually never met the real Leto.
Harley Quinn wields an umbrella that is red and black, which is the original color scheme for her outfit from Batman: The Animated Series (1992), which is seen in the film during Harley Quinn's back story where she and the Joker are dancing. She also wields a baseball bat, her trademark weapon from the "Batman: Arkham" video games.
In May 2016, Warner Brothers announced that 玛格特·罗比 would reprise her role as Harley Quinn in an upcoming 哥谭魅影, which she would also produce. Not much has been revealed about the project, but it is rumored to be focused on the female heroes and villains of the DC Extended Universe, and if indeed the title is "Gotham City Sirens", we can expect Poison Ivy and Catwoman appearing with Harley.
杰瑞德·莱托 shaved his eyebrows in order to play The Joker, to make him look more deranged and psychotic. 杰伊·埃尔南德斯, who plays El Diablo, also shaved his eyebrows for his role, since his character was designed to have no hair on his body. For Hernandez, the choice saved him half an hour a day in the make-up chair.
杰瑞德·莱托 chose not to re-watch the performance given by 希斯·莱杰 in 蝙蝠侠：黑暗骑士 (2008) because he felt he needed to form his own version of the character. He did not want to copy or lift material from any previous film version. Instead, he focused more on the comic book versions of the iconic villain.
玛格特·罗比 began training six months prior to shooting Suicide Squad (2016). Her training routine included gymnastics, boxing, weapons training, aerial silk training, and learning to hold her breath underwater for extended periods of time.
杰瑞德·莱托 took inspiration from the Batman comic "Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth," which portrayed The Joker as a transcendent, unsettling, and seductive person. He also cites gospel music, shamans, and Mexican cartels as an influence on the character.
杰瑞德·莱托 said in an interview about acting alongside 玛格特·罗比: "Margot is very easy to have chemistry with. She's incredibly talented and very sweet and a great actress. The perfect partner for me and The Joker."
A bar scene with Harley taking everyone's orders was featured in several trailers but was edited for the theatrical release. In the scene, Deadshot calls for a shot, Katana wants whiskey, Croc and Boomerang settle for beer, Harley asks what Diablo wants, and he prefers water which she jokes, "is a good idea". In the finished film, it cuts directly to speech about them all almost pulling the mission off. It is added into the extended cut of the film, with extra dialogue from Deadshot and Diablo.
The Joker's various clothes in this film are based on the clothes he wore in the Batman comics. The tuxedo and white gloves come from The Killing Joke (1988) and Death in the Family (1988), the white coat and purple shirt comes from Dark Knight Returns (1986), The Joker's brown waistcoat comes from Joker (2008).
Each of the criminal members of the Suicide Squad wears an item that references their comic book history:
Deadshot uses an eyepiece that resembles his comic avatar.
Harley Quinn's color scheme is red and blue, inspired by her appearance in the "New 52" DC comics, where she is a member of the Squad.
George Harkness has on a blue shirt with "Captain" on it, in an homage to Captain Boomerang's blue uniform (if you look closely, the uniform has little boomerangs on it). He also wears the U.S. Army Captain "O-3" insignia on his collar.
Killer Croc wears clothes made out of crocodile skin.
June Moone (Enchantress) has on a moon-styled headpiece.
Chato Santana has a sweatshirt reading "Diablo", his superhero title.
Katana's outfit echoes her "New 52" uniform (a black suit) and her classic suits (which had Japanese rising suns as her symbol).
The Batmobile chase scene with Batman pursuing Harley Quinn and Joker was originally longer, with more interaction between Joker and Harley. One of the examples, presented in all the trailers, is the Joker punching the roof of his car.
To prepare for his role as the Joker, 杰瑞德·莱托 watched hours of real crime footage on YouTube until he couldn't watch anymore. His reasoning was to understand how calm and deliberate a criminal can be and apply that to the character.
威尔·史密斯 had lengthy talks with 大卫·阿耶 about his nasty past experiences, fears, and frustrations, in order to get to the core of his character, Deadshot. He later found that Ayer recalled some of these to him during filming, in order to get Smith into the right frame of mind.
大卫·阿耶 cast 卡拉·迪瓦伊 before there was a script. He asked her to prepare for her role as Enchantress by stripping naked in the woods, preferably underneath a full moon, and walking in the mud at night. She reportedly did so, on the secluded compound of her sister's mansion, for some much-needed privacy.
大卫·阿耶 revealed in a Q&A on Twitter that King Shark was originally going to appear in the film, but would only have been possible as a fully CGI character. His replacement, Killer Croc, is portrayed practically with make-up and prosthetics.
The Enchantress is the name of villainous characters in both DC and Marvel Comics, who coincidentally both wield magic and are clothed in green. The Enchantress of Marvel is a rival of Thor, while DC's is not primarily an antagonist on any one hero. In this film, she has been completely re-designed in order to look unique.
Although she has prior martial arts experience with a brown striped belt in karate, 凯伦·福原 trained alongside her castmates during about two months of pre-production, in order to learn how to wield a sword correctly.
On Joker and Harley's relationship, 杰瑞德·莱托 said, "I think people do crazy things when they're in love, and I think the Joker is. I don't know if you could call it love, but it's something similar. I think that Harley is a trophy for the Joker. Something he can possess, and it's exciting for him to think about this creature that he helped create, being by his side as he dominates the world."
The dead pig that 杰瑞德·莱托 sent the cast is actually seen when they're doing the feeding sessions to the inmates as they drop the dead pig into Killer Croc's cell. It was later confirmed that this was the actual pig that was sent that was used in the film. In the extended cut of the film, 大卫·阿耶 has a cameo as the guard who drops the pig into Killer Croc's cell.
玛格特·罗比 spent over three hours in the make-up chair to be transformed into Harley Quinn. She had to have her skin painted white, apply twenty temporary tattoos, apply Harley Quinn's wig, and get into costume.
Killer Croc is based on his original debut appearance in the 80s (an aspiring criminal kingpin) and his appearance in the "Joker" comic (a huge black man with a skin condition who indulges in cannibalism).
卡拉·迪瓦伊 auditioned for the role of Enchantress by reading for Martha from 爱德华·阿尔比's play "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?" She was asked to read the part in several different ways, in order to reflect June Moone's split personality. By the end of the audition, she was ready to beat people up: "大卫·阿耶 sparked a fury in me, you got to come get me out of jail because I was so furious!"
Scenes of El Diablo that were removed from the final cut include him observing the flame of a lit match, before putting it out due to his vow to no longer use his powers and being escorted to a training center by being placed in a tube that fills with water to quell his flames, and then unceremoniously dropped onto the ground.
The first trailer for this film shown at Comic Con 2015, featured a cover version of The Bee Gees's classic "I Started A Joke". This version was specifically produced for that preview by trailer music company Confidential Music (with vocals by Becky Hanson), and made quite an impact with audiences. A modified version of that arrangement is included on the official soundtrack album (which is remarkable as such cover versions created only for promotional material are normally not released to the public).
玛格特·罗比 said about playing Harley Quinn, "I guess it's intimidating, because there's obviously a lot of people I want to please, and a character I have to do justice, but it's a challenge. I'm definitely up for it, and hopefully I don't disappoint." She also added, "To me, there's always two characters. There's Harleen Quinzel, and there's Harley Quinn. There are moments where Harleen takes over, and that's when she can be rational, and then Harley takes over, and that's the more erratic side."
Scenes of Rick Flag and June Moon's romantic relationship, including him reading the files of the Suicide Squad recruits after Waller delivers them to him and a scene of Flag and Moon out on a date, were removed from the final cut.
杰瑞德·莱托 revealed in an interview that among the infamous gifts he sent his co-stars were more appropriate items, too. "I did give some really nice, sweet gifts as well," Leto said while promoting the film in New York City, "I gave cupcakes". But then he added with a devilish grin", "I don't think they should have eaten the cupcakes", he quipped, "I also wrote everyone a poem as well", Leto said adding, "It helped me think about who they were and kind of created this illusion of a relationship and make the circumstances a little more realistic". Leto then teased, "The funny thing about the gifts, is no one has actually talked about the craziest stuff, I did get thank you notes for some of the gifts" Leto boasted, "I'm not going to say who or what, or what specific gift was thanked, but there were a lot", "Joker likes to share his toys."
大卫·阿耶 penned an open letter in January 2017 in response to a fan's enthusiasm for the film. "I know it's a controversial film, I really tried to make something different, with a look and a voice of its own. I took inspiration from the insanity of the original comics. Making a movie is a journey, not a straight line. I learned so much. People want what they want, and everyone has a personal vision of how each character should look and walk and talk. If you set out to make a mass appeal movie, it's easy to end up with vanilla. But I went for it. And I know Squad has its flaws, Hell, the World knows it. Nothing hurts more than to pick up a newspaper and see a couple years of your blood, sweat and tears ripped to shreds. The hate game is strong out there. The movie was wildly successful commercially. And the World got introduced into some very cool characters in the DC Universe. And that success is due exactly to the wonder and power of DC, of its characters. Would I do a lot of things different? Yep, for sure. Wish I had a time machine. I'd make Joker the main villain and engineer a more grounded story. I have to take the good and bad and learn from it. I love making movies and I love DC. I'm a High School dropout and used to paint houses for a living. I'm lucky to have the job I have. I have to give the characters the stories and plots they deserve next time. Real talk. (And no, there isn't a secret edit of the film with a bunch of Joker scenes hidden in a salt mine somewhere.)"
维奥拉·戴维斯 (Amanda Waller) was fascinated by her character singling out her psychology and strength and describing her as a "powerful black woman, hard, ready to pick up a gun and shoot anyone at will". She described Waller as "relentless in her villainy", and noted that her powers are "her intelligence and her complete lack of guilt". Davis also read M.E. Thomas' autobiography "Confessions of a Sociopath" to prepare for her role.
To prepare for her role as Harleen Quinzel, a.k.a. Harley Quinn, 玛格特·罗比 stated in an interview, "I ended up looking into MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) testings. It's a test that psychologists use to determine what mental illness people might have. It's a list of five hundred questions or something. Whenever we had time to rehearse or improvise, or even in the scenes, I'd just start with those questions. Some of them are basic, and some of them are not. I'd see which ones would catch him off guard, how he'd react, and I'd be like, 'OK, I'm gonna go for this tactic now. It's a lot of trial and error. It's kinda like when your friend is doing something stupid in a relationship, and you're just so frustrated. You're like 'What are you doing? Why?' I landed upon co-dependency as the tact to take. It's like a compulsion, I suppose. When you start looking at it the way an alcoholic is compelled, you know, needs to have a drink. You think of it in those terms, like it's an actual psychological problem, which co-dependency actually is."
In early cuts of the film, its opening detailed June Moon's posession by Enchantress in real time. Re-shoots reshuffled the scene to be later in the movie in flashback form, in favor of a new opening centered on Deadshot in the prison cell, watching the rain fall and thinking about his daughter.
Following the success of the movie's first wide-release trailer, featuring Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, its editors Trailer Park, Inc. were invited to produce a cut of the movie. Their new music-heavy version was tested against 大卫·阿耶's own cut, although the released version of the movie incorporates ideas from both.
In a joke segment called "First Drafts" on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (2015), one of the taglines for Independence Day: Resurgence (2016), "We had twenty years to prepare. So did they", was spoofed, saying its first draft really was: "For twenty years, 威尔·史密斯 said 'NO.' So we just made it without him." Moreover, and similarly, for Smith's Suicide Squad, released in the same year, which has one tagline that states, "Worst. Heroes. Ever.", the first draft was: "The movie Will Smith did instead of Independence Day 2".
To prepare for his role as the Joker, 杰瑞德·莱托 spent countless hours meeting with longtime tenants of a psych ward, and they weren't just meet and greets, these were immersive experiences with individuals who have truly lost their marbles as Leto described them as "people who had committed horrendous crimes, people who have been institutionalized for great periods of time."
On July 11, 2015, the first trailer for this film was shown at Comic Con 2015. Warner Brothers did not intend the trailer to be widely seen, but later relented, and publicly released the trailer a few days later.
In response to the fake rumors about his method acting for the Joker, 杰瑞德·莱托 disclosed in an interview "There's so much hype and so much bullshit around that. I think it's just a fun thing to talk about and, you know, even when the movie came out there was so much misrepresentation about what went down. About the method acting crap. 90% of it wasn't even true and it just takes on a life of its own. It was an incredible experience, everyone was amazing... but everything's great in that world and I'm really proud to be a part of it."
The song playing in the background while Harley Quinn is dancing in the Joker's club is "Purple Lamborghini". The song is by Rick Ross and Skrillex, and is featured on the film's soundtrack. 杰瑞德·莱托 appears as the Joker in the song's official music video.
In creating the look of the Joker, 杰瑞德·莱托 was inspired heavily by 大卫·鲍伊, specifically by his "Thin White Duke" persona. He also spoke with Grant Morrison, a famed DC writer who has often written the Joker as resembling the rock star. Morrison has even given him Bowie's trademark dilated pupil.
In a recent interview, 玛格特·罗比 revealed that she received multiple death threats for taking on the role of Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad. The actress wishes that somebody would have taken her aside to clue her in on the risks of taking on such a massive role. Robbie had to learn as she navigated her new-found success, which includes learning the price of a background check for a person that just threatened her life. She had this to say. "You're about to be in a comic book film; now here's the worst-case scenario of how big and scary it can get. There's just all this stuff you learn along the way, like, when you get those death threats, it's (smart) to have a security team do a background check on whoever sent them to see if there is any past history of violence because you'll need to know whether you need security to go to certain events. And every time you do a background check, it's going to cost $2,000, so take that into consideration when you're getting yourself into this ,and it's like, 'OK, that's a different kind of career.' Because then you need to always do a job that can financially support that lifestyle. You can't just do indie films for the rest of your life because that film back there changed everything and now you have to be able to afford security. I just wish someone had explained a lot of those things to me early on. I wouldn't have resented the position I found myself in because I would've known what I was getting myself into."
Shortly after arriving in Midway City, Deadshot asks for some help from Harley on an escape plan, and refers to getting some help from her "friend", the Joker. She replies with, "You're my friend, too", which may be an allusion to The New 52 comic book run of Suicide Squad, where there was a relationship between Harley and Deadshot.
In December 2015 eight months before the film's release, 伊克·巴里霍尔兹 (Griggs) revealed in an interview on the 霍华德·斯特恩 show about how 杰瑞德·莱托 kissed him, "It was a very fun movie to work on...he was in character the whole time at first i was like 'that's lame but then you think about it and I was like I want the Joker in character", Barinholtz was caught off-guard when Leto went off-script during their interrogation scene "I do this scene with him and he's supposed to be intimidating me" he recalled "he comes in and he starts squeezing my boobs he's all [panting and moaning] 'you're a big guy"-cause I'm 6'3, this is while were filming then he fucking grabs me and kisses me on the mouth, full kisses me cameras were rolling and none of this was in the script mind you. I thought 'okay I'm just going to go with it' but then he's like [panting and moaning again] 'Did someone piss their pants?, I'm like "now I did because you said I did!".
On why the Joker enjoys inflicting pain, 杰瑞德·莱托 stated in an interview, "I think that the Joker is inflicting upon the world the pain that has been inflicted upon him, so in a sense there's some sort of revenge there, but I think it's all a big game, I think that if there's an opportunity to manipulate or intimidate he finds that really exciting."
凯伦·福原 (Katana) revealed for her audition "I remember the room wasn't very big, and they had big photo lights on either side of me. During my sword-fighting portion of the audition, I tried to calculate my arm's length and the sword's length so I wouldn't hit those things. But it was cutting it really close, and when you're in the zone, you can't really be careful because you're going all out. I hit one of the lights, and I remember hearing the casting director and David gasp. But I just kept going with it, and I think that's what David liked, that I didn't stop in the middle."
The first footage of the movie was shown in a teaser trailer during the Warner Brothers panel at San Diego Comic Con in 2015. The trailer was meant to be a glorified sizzle reel, essentially highlighting the different characters, and Warner Brothers had no intention of releasing it to the public. When a low quality version of the trailer, that was filmed by someone in attendence at the panel, surfaced online, Warner Brothers decided to release the high quality version to the public, making it the film's first official trailer.
玛格特·罗比 said in an interview if she could give any advice to her character Harley, she would say, "Find your love elsewhere, look to your girls, your girl gang - - you gotta find your love in the good places. Don't look for it in the bad places."
List of firearms with which Deadshot is an expert: 9mm pistol, Gatling Gun, revolver, flare gun, potato cannon, machine gun, assault rifle, flamethrower, sniper rifle, anti-tank rifle, shotgun, M1 carbine, bazooka, Derringer, Uzi, grenade launcher, .44 magnum, and a musket.
For inspiration as the Joker, 杰瑞德·莱托 revealed in an interview: "I looked at all kinds of things. I think the Joker is a cross between a snake, a hyena, maybe a gorilla in there somewhere. The fun thing about the Joker, is that he's completely insane. There are no rules. No right answer. There's a lot of freedom."
杰瑞德·莱托 had to prepare physically for the role of Joker, as it required a lot of working out for being in the desired shape. But the actor was so fit and in shape already that within two months, he got himself ripped and shooting started.
When asked if the Joker would like Thirty Seconds to Mars, 杰瑞德·莱托 said: "I think the Joker would like Thirty Seconds to Mars, because he likes a little chaos, and if you've ever been to a Thirty Seconds to Mars show, it's a lot of chaos, and a lot of fun."
杰瑞德·莱托 described his role as the Joker as nearly "Shakespearean, and a beautiful disaster of a character". About portraying the Joker, he stated, "I took a pretty deep dive, but this was a unique opportunity, and I couldn't imagine doing it another way, it was fun playing these psychological games, but at the same, it was very painful."
The restaurant Amanda Waller enters in the beginning of the film, The Cicada, is a real restaurant. However, The Cicada is not located in Washington, D.C., it is located in Los Angeles, and the Washington, D.C. decal underneath the logo, on the windows, were added for production.
Harley's revolver, a Chiappa Rhino, fires from the bottom of the cylinder as opposed to nearly all other revolvers which fire from the top. This design is meant to dramatically reduce recoil and enhance accuracy.
When asked in an interview if the Joker would relate to any songs, 杰瑞德·莱托 said "Well, a lot. I think he would love This Is War, this old song called Attack, but there's this song called End of all Days, and there's a line in that says 'I'll punish you and pleasure you with pain', and that should be a tattoo that the Joker gets next time."
Strangely enough, every single member of the U.S. military in the film appears to be a Special Operations Forces member, aside from Colonel Flag. Lieutenant Edwards's S.E.A.L.s, the 160th SOAR helicopter crewmen, and even the background "infantry" soldiers wear the insignia of either the 75th Ranger Regiment or Special Forces.
As the movie was made by comic fans, it's full with Easter eggs considering other comic movies. For example, when Harley Quinn is robbing a purse she destroys a showcase and the logo of the Watchmen can be seen in the background.
玛格特·罗比 described her character as one of the Squad's most manipulative members, and her relationship with Joker as "incredibly dysfunctional", adding that Quinn is "mad about him, like literally mad, she's crazy, but she loves him, and it's a really unhealthy dysfunctional relationship, but an addictive one."
杰伊·埃尔南德斯 said about his character El Diablo, "He's a fighter, but he's not giving up that side of his life, because of an attempt that took place. He backed away from criminality. He backed away from aggression. He's backed away from being who he is. It's part of his superpower that he has. It ain't part of him. It's been with him since he was really young. It's like he gave up a big part of who he was, and later rediscovers it to be okay with accessing that side of him."
杰瑞德·莱托 is the third actor appearing as the Joker who has won an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (he was awarded in 2014). 杰克·尼科尔森 who portrayed the Joker in Batman (1989) won in the year 1984. 希斯·莱杰 who portrayed the Joker in 蝙蝠侠：黑暗骑士 (2008) won posthumously in 2009.
凯伦·福原 revealed in an interview during filming about interacting with 杰瑞德·莱托 (Joker) in between takes, "every time I saw him on set he introduced himself as the Joker! I would try to say hi to him as Karen, and he would come at me with full Joker. Haha, it gets weird every time".
Interacting with a fan on Twitter, 大卫·阿耶 expressed regret about not making the Joker a main villain in the movie. "Yeah it was a big fun silly movie. It could have been a bigger success had I done it a little different. But it did great and made an impression, believe me it's agonizing but yes The Joker should have been the main villain".
Deadshot's main sidearm is a heavily customized Glock 17 (3rd Generation) - 9x19mm fitted with a compensator made by Zev, and a flared Magwell, also made by Zev, with a Trijicon RMR Red Dot sight, he also uses a Glock 30 - .45 ACP, he also uses a custom AR-15, with a two-tone red and gold paint job, with a red painted Magpul CTR (Combat/Type Restricted) stock, and outfitted with a custom-made handguard and muzzle-break, also outfitted with a custom Platinum finish ACOG (Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight) with a Trijicon RMR sight (an adjustable LED model) mounted on top along with a vertical grip.
According to the veteran-owned website SOFREP.com Facebook page, many U.S. Special Operations Forces veterans were technical advisers for the film, and at least one, 凯文·万斯, played a Navy S.E.A.L. on-screen. Vance is credited as "Ski", and can be distinguished from the other S.E.A.L.s, as he is bald.
乔尔·金纳曼 (Rick Flag) regretted getting his SKWAD tattoo by 威尔·史密斯 he stated to Watch What Happens: Live (2009), that his tattoo artist wife Cleo Wattenström would have done a much better job. "That was a horrible idea," he admitted, via MTV. "You know, don't let a 47-year-old man without his reading glasses tattoo you. That is the life lesson. Especially when you have a very talented wife. It's supposed to be a sh**ty tattoo, so that's what it is."
Deadshots "wrist magnums" were built from Glock 19 pistols. The props used in the film were designed and custom made by Walter Klassen FX and Movie Armaments Group (this included "design work, CAD renderings, machining, assembly, finishing and powder coating"). New CNC-machined frames were created for the the Glock 19s and the magazine release and ejection of the one mounted to Smith's right wrist were reversed so that the casings would be able to eject upwards. The blank-firing wrist guns were fully automatic, fired via a thumb trigger connected to a system involving air tubes, a pneumatic actuator, and regulated CO2 canisters hidden in the holstered Glock 18s on Smith's back. According to Walter Klassen FX employee Taku Dazai, firing them created a "rooster tail of fire" and a "huge plume of fire", plus they "sound insane". They are chambered in 9x19mm, due to the fact that they can be seen loaded with the magazines from Deadshot's Glock 18s.
When asked what was the problem that caused the movie to have a poor reception and lukewarm reviews to critics and fans Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag) stated in an interview to Yahoo Movies: "In the third act. It was a great setup, great characters. I think that if, when we do a second one, I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of a grounded version of the film. I think the characters are so extreme, so I think it would be more effective if we're seeing them [around] maybe less sorcery. Because I think the characters become more extreme if you see them in conjunction with more real people".
A Nimitz-class aircraft carrier appears in the film. Based on her antenna configuration and the appearance of her 'island' superstructure, the depicted aircraft carrier is the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan (CVN-76).
大卫·阿耶 reflected on how the aftermath of his film affected his approach in directing Netflix's Bright (2017) "It was shit. Yeah, it was shit reviews. I got my throat cut," Ayer said of Suicide Squad. Critics called the work "unexciting," "predictable," "mind-boggling stupid," and a film "beholden to the corporate vision of other recent DC adaptations." "It was a super polarizing movie. Incredibly polarizing," Ayer added. The director went on to explain how the response made him "gun shy" when going to work on Bright. "It's like going to the boxing ring and getting knocked out is how it felt. And I had to go into the ring again. And directing is a confidence game, because you're selling everyone on something that only exists in your head," he said. "The actors have to feel that confidence to trust that you know what you're doing, and so does your crew. As a director, you set the tone. Really, it's coming off that movie, I understood the pitfalls, I understood the dangers, I knew where the alligators hide, you know? And so I made damn sure I didn't repeat any mistakes." however, history is repeating itself as Bright was described as a "plenty embarrassing" "genre disaster" by critics as the film debuted on Netflix this week.
大卫·阿耶 stated in an interview the story behind Captain Boomerangs fetish for pink unicorn he revealed that the unicorn plushie was originally a set decoration piece in the John F. Ostrander Federal Building. "[Pinky] was actually intended to be a piece of set decoration in one of our office building sets," he said. "I thought [Boomerang] needed a little something kind of fun and silly and it kept appearing throughout the film. It became a bit of a mascot," Ayer then explained, telling fans the unicorn was meant to represent all things George "Digger" Harkness. The villain was particularly fond of the stuffed animal, enough so for him to even take Pinky into battle and beyond. And, what's more, Ayer went on to confirm one of his fans' biggest suspicions about Captain Boomerang: The guy is a total Brony. "Yes, [he's a] Brony," the director confessed. "Which is fine. I think it's a good thing and gives him a little hobby besides robbing banks."
Deadshot's costumes and weapons have written on them the phrase, "I am the Light, the Way", a reference to Jesus Christ. 威尔·史密斯 starred as Robert Neville in 我是传奇 (2007), and that character also has many references to Jesus Christ.
When the personal files of each squad member are being shown, George Harkness, a.k.a. Captain Boomerang, has listed under his interests: pink unicorns. Later, when the squad arrives in Louisiana, a pile of weapons and items are on the tarmac. A brief scene shows Harkness coming across a small stuffed pink unicorn. In a moment of decisive urgency, he quickly shoves the unicorn into his jacket, and continues rummaging through the pile.
The name "Harley Quinn" is a phonetically and linguistically corruption of the English term "Harlequin" (based on the Italian name Arlecchino), as the character is being depicted in the DC's Graphic novels, the official movie novelizations and the movies. Even in the French pronunciation of the French word "harlekin" one can pick out the sound of the character's name.
In the club scene with The Joker, we see he has tattoos, but, in fact, 杰瑞德·莱托 has eight real tattoos. He has arrows pointing upward on the back of each leg , he has two triangles on each of the back of his elbows, he has a giant Orbis epsilon on his back, he has on his right collarbone, the saying "Provitio In Altum", which means "launch forth into the deep"; one on his inner wrist, and the last one on his inner arm, which of all represent personal meanings and sayings to his band. When Jared puts his arm up in the club scene, we see his elbow with his real triangular tattoo for a split second. David Ayers, however, did not catch this.

In the original DC comics, June Moone a.k.a. The Enchantress began as a superhero who appeared almost exclusively in back-up features. Because she had the ability to transform from ordinary young woman into powerful witch or back again by calling out her name, "Enchantress!", her unfortunate nickname in the comics was "The Switcheroo Witch-eroo!" In her original continuity, she became evil as the result of a botched spell ritual she had thought would erase all evil from the world; this was later retconned to something similar to what appears in the movie. The character gained any sort of popularity only after turning into a supervillain, first appearing as an occasional antagonist to Supergirl and later joining the Suicide Squad comic book series as an ongoing character.
The blue-black camouflage pattern used by the U.S. Navy S.E.A.L.s in the film, is a combination of several patterns, including the Desert Storm-era "chocolate chip" desert pattern, the new U.S. Army standard Multicam, a.k.a. Operational Camouflage Pattern, a U.S. Marine "Urban-T" pattern from 1999, "Flecktarn", and the French "Lizard" pattern, known overall as "Bravoflauge".
Even though 杰瑞德·莱托 was told to shave his whole body, he is only shot from the waist up, in scenes where he is shirtless or his shirt is open, compared to 达拉斯买家俱乐部 (2013), where all parts of his body are showing.
焦点 (2015), starring 威尔·史密斯 and 玛格特·罗比, used "Sympathy for the Devil" by The Rolling Stones as a key part of the large con at the football game. Sympathy for the Devil plays in this film, immediately after introducing Smith as Deadshot and Robbie as Harley Quinn.
The scene where Enchantress receives her magical heart is most unusual, in that it's correctly placed in the middle of her chest. The vast majority of movies and TV shows reflect the popular misconception that the heart is over the left lung.
Rick Flag carries a Heckler & Koch HK416A5 fitted with a Geissele Automatics 14.5 Super Modular Rail handguard. The rifle looks to be equipped with Gen 1 Magpul AFG, AN/PEQ-15 laser designator, and a Leupold Mark 6 1-6x20mm M6C1 rifle scope with an Aimpoint T2 Red Dot attached on the right side of the scope with a LaRue Tactical mount.
In the Closed Circuit TV footage of El Diablo's prison riot, after he incinerates half the yard, he is seen with a crown of flames levitating over his head. The crown resembles the one that Hellboy wears when he transforms into the Prince of Hell.
Deadshot, a hired assassin, is featured as an adversary of Batman (本·阿弗莱克). Bullseye, a similar assassin from Marvel Comics, was featured as the antagonist in Daredevil (2003) which featured Affleck in the title role.
A scene filmed but ultimately cut for pacing reasons shows Harley Quinn having a bit of fun with one of the partygoers during her dance at the Jokers club, a masked partygoer has their hands pressed against the glass booth that Harley Quinn is dancing inside, so Quinn does what any Harley does best: she rushes forward a bit and presses her hands against the glass, causing the masked attendee to jump back a bit.
In 2020 大卫·阿耶 discussed making the "Ayer Cut" of this film, in the aftermath of Justice League (2017) getting a version cut by its original director 扎克·施奈德, who stood down due to his daughter's suicide and was replaced with 乔斯·韦登.
杰瑞德·莱托 and 杰克·尼科尔森 have played The Joker. Years ago, Leto also made a reference to what was arguably Nicholson's most famous role as Jack Torrance, in 闪灵 (1980). It was in the music video for Thirty Seconds to Mars' song "The Kill", where Leto was seen throwing a ball violently at a wall in a hotel.
In an interview many years ago, 杰瑞德·莱托 was being interviewed about his band, and was asked by the interviewer, "If you could play either Batman, or Christian Grey of Fifty Shades of Grey, which one would you choose?" He said, *Batman of course." However, he ended up playing The Joker. The interview was called "Would You Rather? with Jared Leto".
In one scene, the Joker is seen lying amongst a collection of knives and firearms, which appear to contain many pistols including what appears to be an IWI X95 assault rifle, a full-sized Glock pistol (most likely a Glock 17), two compact-sized Glocks (most likely Glock 19s, one of which is fitted with a suppressor), two Beretta 92FS Inox-style handguns, among others.
Various behind-the-scenes photos show various fictionalised versions of newspapers reporting "demonic killings" in what looks like a New York City set: The New York Star-Register replaces The New York Times. The Metro Star, a tabloid, appears to replace The New York Post. Morning Gazette has a design that looks similar to The Daily News. The New York Ledger bears similarities in design to The Wall Street Journal. USA POST, a national newspaper, appears to replace USA TODAY.
Director David Ayer posted a photo from Jared Leto's early makeup tests, showing a close up of the actor with a different tattoo on his face. "This is an early Joker make up test," Ayer wrote in the post. "The research and fine tuning when crafting a character are endless." This edition of the Joker makeup features a new "haha" tattoo over Leto's left eye and a small "J" on the cheek below it. The "J" actually ended up on the final version of the character but the eyebrow ink was ultimately cut.
In this movie, Will Smith plays Floyd Lawton, a trained assassin and hired killer. In an episode of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air", Will encounters a hired assassin who tries to kill his character named Floyd.
Joel Kinnaman previously appeared in RoboCop, making him one of several cast members of that series to appear opposite Batman. The original RoboCop, Peter Weller, voiced Batman. Kinnaman played the role opposite Michael Keaton. Gary Oldman and Ray Wise have both played Commissioner Gordon.
Ted Whittall (Admiral Olsen), Jay Hernandez (Diablo) and Kevin Hanchard (Casino Boss) all also feature in The Expanse (2015) as Dr. Michael Iturbi, Dimitri Havelock and Inspector Sematimba, respectively.
罗宾·阿特金: When Deadshot is first introduced, he's been hired by a mobster named Angelo to carry out an assassination. Angelo's voice, heard over the telephone, is provided by Robin Atkin Downes, who played Doomsday in 蝙蝠侠大战超人：正义黎明 (2016).
Several scenes of Killer Croc's backstory were removed from the final cut, including scenes depicting his entire life as a social outcast, due to his physical appearance, and convincing himself that he is beautiful in his own way. Croc crossed paths with Batman while working as muscle-for-hire for numerous Gotham crime bosses, while secretly planning to take over one day. There were also scenes displaying his affinity for making sculptures out of discarded materials. Aside from jokes about Croc viewing himself as "beautiful", none of these were retained in the final cut. Also deleted, was a scene where he becomes sick during the helicopter escort to Midway City, throws up half-digested pieces of goat, and then eats them again, disgusting the nearby Navy S.E.A.L.s.
When Harley imagines a life where she's married with kids, 杰瑞德·莱托 had to wear fake eyebrows, since he had shaved his entire body (except for his head) for the film. He also wore fake hair and fake teeth. "I felt like a game show host from the '70s." he said during an interview.
Harley Quinn's origin is based on the 布鲁斯·提姆-Paul Dini story "Mad Love", where Harley was a psychiatrist who develops an obsessive infatuation with The Joker. While her doctor attire is based on the comic, her criminal attire is taken from her New 52 portrayal. Her plunge into the same chemicals that birthed The Joker, is also from the New 52.
The Flash is briefly seen in the flashback to Captain Boomerang's initial apprehension. In the comics, Captain Boomerang originated as a regular villain of The Flash's, and was part of Flash's Rogues Gallery.
During the mid-credits scene, it is assumed Amanda Waller is aware that Bruce Wayne is Batman, when she hands over the dossier of metahumans. He, in response, tells her that she better shut it (the Suicide Squad) down, or he and his friends will. This alludes to him bringing about the teaming of the Justice League.
In early versions of the script, scenes reportedly included passing references to Slipknot (Adam Beach) being a serial rapist, likely to further paint him as unsympathetic to the audience ahead of his own death.
At one point Captain Boomerang harasses El Diablo over him staying out of the fighting. El Diablo says you don't want him to cut loose, showing a brief wall of fire from his hand. Inside the fire is a glimpse of his Fire God form. It is the personification of the fire-demon "spirit of vengeance" that inhabits Diablo.
When The Joker is shown lying on the floor in his club, surrounded by weapons, in the top right corner there are two infant sized onesies, one pink, and the other blue. This could be forshadowing the dream sequence that Harley Quinn has later in the film, where she and The Joker are married with twins, a boy and a girl.
The Joker kidnaps the professor in charge of the nanite bombs inserted in the necks of the squad, and he persuades him to disarm Harley's device. He uses this tactic so Harley can escape the clutches of Rick Flag and Amanda Waller to reunite with him. However, her device appears to be re-activated when the squad eventually rescues Amanda Waller.
Belle Reve Penitentiary is the facility that initially houses Killer Croc, El Diablo, Deadshot, and Harley Quinn, but Captain Boomerang and Slipknot are not initially kept there. Captain Boomerang isn't detained at Belle Reve until after the squad's mission is complete.
The villain's nature could be a reference taken from Nightshade's odyssey, a story-arc of John Ostrander's run. Here, it is revealed that the powers of Enchantress derive from the Succubus, a demonic entity which has a brother, Incubus.
Towards the end of the movie, when Deadshot shoots Harley Quinn's revolver at the bomb-pack, the revolver's side-engraving switches from "HATE" to "LOVE". This alludes to Deadshot's statement: "You don't kill as many people as I've killed and still sleep like a kitten, if you feel s**t like love." However, right before he pulls the trigger, the Enchantress makes him see his daughter right in front of him telling him the only way they can be together is if he doesn't shoot. Now, he has to make a tough descision knowing that if he does pull the trigger, he saves his daughter's life, but may never see her again. This is the ultimate portrayal of Deadshot actually feeling love (albeit, a fatherly love) towards his daughter through sacrifice.
As of 2019, no explanation has been given as to how the Joker survived the exploding helicopter. Enchantress mentions that she could bring him back when Harley talks to her in the battle at the Train Station. It's possible that Enchantress might have followed through on the deal.
According to 大卫·阿耶, there were various elements left out of his vision of the film: The film was meant to open with Enchantress returning to the world Enchantress was meant to be in alliance with Darkseid, and so her machine would incorporate a Boom Tube (portal) too. After Joker drops Harley from the helicopter and it crashes, he would make a deal with Enchantress: in return for not interfering with her plans. He tries to take Harley home and be "King of Gotham" Harley stood up to him and refused to betray her new friends. The Squad turned on him and he escaped. Katana would be possessed by Enchantress and attack the Squad.
The military helicopters featured in the film include: An MH-60L Direct Action Penetrator (DAP) Black Hawk gunship, with the number "23" on its door, shoots down "Savior One-Zero", another helicopter that The Joker and his men had hijacked, and is called in to extract Waller, but is brought down by Incubus. A regular MH-60L Black Hawk helicopter, not in DAP configuration, delivers Captain Boomerang to the "party" at Midway City in a sack. MH-47G Chinooks. They carried Task Force X, and the accompanying S.E.A.L.s into Midway City. One of them, "Six-One", is shot down by Enchantress' minions, and another Chinook, the aforementioned "Savior One-Zero", was the extraction for the Task Force, but is hijacked by The Joker before it can do so. A Hughes 500, standing in for an MH-6 Little Bird, carries Colonel Flag into the Midway City airport base to meet with his new team. A pair of AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopters attempt to kill Incubus during his initial breakout in Midway City with their M230 30mm chain guns, but are destroyed themselves. Of these, all but the Apaches are operated exclusively by the elite 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.
When the Team's Chinook is hit and is going down, a pilot says "Six-one is going down" In Black Hawk Down (2001), and the 1993 real-life "Battle of Mogadishu" that the latter film depicts, the first helicopter, here a Black Hawk, to be downed is called "Super Six-One".
