Early in the film's pre-production stages, 达斯汀·霍夫曼 and Anne Bancroft were strongly considered for the roles of Beau Burroughs and Katherine Richelieu. But when Bancroft died, and Hoffman had filming commitments for several other projects, the roles were given to 凯文·科斯特纳 and 雪莉·麦克雷恩.
The screenwriter 泰德·格里芬 was the original director, but was fired after just twelve days of shooting, which resulted in 罗伯·莱纳 taking over. Production had to be shut down for a few days as Reiner was allowed to make script, cast, and crew changes before filming eventually resumed. As a result of this, original cast members 查理·汉纳姆, 莱斯莉·安, 托尼·比尔, and 格列塔·斯卡奇 were all let go from the project.
Along with President 比尔·克林顿 and 菲德尔·卡斯特罗, the picture on the far left is Beau (凯文·科斯特纳) with 罗伯·莱纳 (the director). 休·海夫纳 was originally supposed to be pictured, but Hefner objected at the last minute. Reiner was added in digitally.
In the beginning of the film, on the plane, 詹妮弗·安妮斯顿's character says she's not wearing her engagement ring so she doesn't "steal my sisters thunder". On 老友记 (1994), Rachel stole Monica's thunder on her engagement night, by kissing Ross.
The plot of the movie is set in Pasadena, and is mentioned more than several times. However, the scene of the Casablanca charity ball is actually filmed at Pasadena City Hall, but is implied to be in San Francisco.
