- The song "Wada karo nahi chhodo ge mera saath" from the movie "Aa gale lag ja" directed by none other than R D Burman which was released in 1973 is very similar to the initial tune of "Song For My Father" by Horace Silver (1964).
Also, the opening bass piano notes for this piece were in turn borrowed from "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" by Steely Dan, while the opening horn riff was borrowed by Stevie Wonder for his song "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing".
- Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na 2008 debut film of Imran Khan had its title borrowed from the song Tera Mujse Hai Phele Ka Nata Koi which had a popular line in it as Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na.
- The film has enjoyed an unusual cult status in Algeria since its release. The cult following remains four decades since the film's release.
